I get the train every single day in Botanic Station towards Ballymena. I've been doing this for three years now. I'm always in time. This morning I was a little bit late (7.13am, the train departs at 7.14am), and there was people on the queue to buy the ticket. My only chance to get the train was buy the ticket on the proper train. I know the rules, I know you have to get the ticket before you go to the plataform...but I was on the station before the train has even arrived. I explained to them that miss the train would mean be an hour late at work for me, on this moment the guy shout to me "you were too late to get this train!!". I do understand the rules, but I don't think I deserve be treated like that. It was my fault arrive too close to the departing time, but as I said, the train wasn't even there, there was a solution, I could buy the ticket online the train. Staff was just rude and not helpful at all.
Normally an okay train station when trying to get to queens university, however, there is this one employee who is very RUDE and LIES to you when you ask for help. I used this train station after work yesterday and this employee lied about not being able to change my train ticket as I had forgotten that I had my ylink card and she said it was too late to change the ticket even though I have been in the same situation as this with other translink employees and they didnt have a problem about changing my ticket to cater for the ylink card , cause after all, it was an honest mistake especially since I had just come out of a busy shift at work. To make things worse , this employee started SHOUTING at me after SHE realised that I had caught her in a LIE. What ever happened to the CUSTOMER SERVICE in botanic??its ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING !! This is NOT the FIRST time this employee has been RUDE and she makes it very difficult for me to use botanic train for transport as it is difficult for me to approach her when buying a ticket !! Absolutely SHOCKING !!!!
Great station in the middle of the city and serving the south of the country and the east side... As mentioned in other comments, it can be better with toilets and slight refurbishments to make it nicer to see...
No public toilets for when you're delayed and train station looks like it did when first constructed. Stuck in a time warp.
The staff here are friendly and helpful, also do a good job of keeping the place clean. Close to Botanic gardens, Ulster museum and Lagan towpath is within walking distance.
