Beautifully kept cemetery, you could spend hours going round the graves of so many brave woman and men of Ireland.. athal OByrne was an Irish singer, poet and writer. He joined the Gaelic League in Belfast and became a popular singer and storyteller. He was a stage manager of theulster Theater and would even become involved with the IRA, likely a member of the military council. In 1921 OByrne travelled to America as a freelance journalist and opened a bookstore. He would return to Ireland after raising $100,000 for victims of the Belfast riots through White Cross. He was a devout Catholic and even interviewed the Pope. Known for his dandified dress style, Cathal remained a bachelor his entire life. OByrne suffered from a stroke one month before his death on 1 August 1957. He is remembered as an important figure in the Celtic revival in the North of Ireland. Charles Patrick Charlie Tully was a famous footballer of Celtic Football Club and Belfast Celtic. Charlies skill quickly earned him the reputation as a Celtic great after an outstanding performance against Rangers in a 3-1 victory at Celtic Park where it was reported Tully dribbled about almost at will. ..The miraculous Irishman bewildered, badgered. mesmerised Rangers.. This catapulted Tully to the status of cult hero and the beginning of Tully Mania when Tully cocktails were sold in pubs; Tully ties in shops and green Tully ice cream in cafes. He is hailed as one of Celtics best ever players.
# I understand Miltown cemetery is separate from this but has close connections to this place Anyone aware of o'neill & co headstone specialists at the side of Miltown cemetery.I had a phone call with them today and spoke to the lady of the business regarding a certain issue that was easily amended.without going into detail of wot the issue was....during the phone call of around 2 minutes she told me I was telling her how to do her job and she hung up the phone mid sentence before I could finish.so I rang back....I asked would it be possible to speak to someone else instead and she said that it was only her there and she again hung up.30 seconds later my mobile rang and when I answered I asked who it was.....the voice said this is the lady's husband....wot is the issue....I replied saying..."your wife told me she was alone in the office because I wanted to speak with someone else for I was very unhappy with how she spoke with me on the phone ".....he replied saying "I have just came into the office" (bearing in mind.....no lies....this was only 30 seconds lol )as I went to tell him wot my first phone call was regarding he began to shout at me to "shut up""shut up"I said excuse me....wot ? ( I was shocked ) he again replied "shut up" "shut up" & hung up the phone.I rang back....I said how dare they treat a customer like that and I will be upto the office to complain in person.up at the office the wife of the premises took out her mobile phone to record me.I sat down in a chair whilst a guy who faguley knows my family stood in between me and the male owner who was leaning aggressively over the persons arm who knows my family whilst shouting in my face "who do you think you are...I am the owner....I can do what I want"I got up off the chair....I found a piece of paper and pen on their desk....and I wrote down the simple adjustments that needed to be done in the first place as to my phone call earlier and I left....I have made a phone call to the consumer rights and also to the local newspaper...who both agree that how I was treated was extremely unprofessional and wrong.whoever has read this I thank you for taking the time lolI am just very shocked and still gobsmacked by this malpractice from O'Neill & co headstone specialists at Miltown.thank you
A must see peaceful cemetery well worth a walk around. There are so many things to learn and see here you could spend hours just walking around see all the memorial.
Had to go visit a hero today bobby sands by name .the wind called his name the sun showed his face and the birds sang his song god bless you bobby never forgotten
The cemetery has come along way and is beautiful now opens till 4pm. Our deceased are at the back where the old trees and hedges have been removed well presented and very easy to find now.
